This is the story of an unintentional immigration. James Fleming was an Irish sailor on a boat taking immigrants to New Orleans. In 1863, Confederate troops seized his ship, stranding him in the United States without money and leaving his relatives thinking he had died. He was able to move to Arkansas and make a living in his new, unintentional home.
